The original circle of life
Disney, ever fond of formulas, long ago settled into a set presentation of DVD bonus content. Buena Vista discs serve up extras with consistency and efficiency, like digital happy meals. As with the studio's feature films, however, the creative team occasionally... more

Hats off to Disney Animation! By The Z
I didn't see Bambi in the theaters until I was in college and I remember being blown away by the animation in it. This restoration has renewed my admiration for the animators who worked on this film. The animation looks almost 3-D in it's use of the... more

Gorgeous. Just..gorgeous.
I already owned Bambi on VHS, but when I saw the DVD edition was going to come out, I had to own it. The difference when compared to the VHS is amazing. Add the features and this 2-disc set is well worth it. The hand-restoration is just gorgeous, it... more

bambi is awesome
This was my favorite movie when I was little! I watched almost everyday!

Still Prince Of The Forest
I can't tell Disney how happy I am that they have decided to restore each classic film and sell it on DVD it's opening up a whole new generation to watch and enjoy personally, I can't be anymore thrilled.

Bambi in this DVD is still just... more

nearly everone gets twitterp[ated in the springtime
One of the greatest animated stories of our lives. Bambi, a young deer, is hailed as the 'Prince of the Forest' at birth. Bambi's youth is comprised of making friends with the other creatures of the forest. Bambi spends his days with his mother learning... more

Disney destroyed the animation on this DvD version
The original Bambi has life and imagination in almost scene. The raindrop sequence especially remains the most vivid spectacle of animation. Has anyone actually compared this version to the original. It has the look and feel of a video game.Yes we have... more

Bambi..one of the classics
Me and my husband picked this up for my 22 month old daughter. The newly enhanced color was great..but I found the film still to be a bit dark compared to the cartoons of today. I know, I know they did what they could and in these times cartoons have... more

This DVD Makes Me Twitterpated
From the first few moments of the new DVD of "Bambi", as the camera weaves through a forest, you realize you are in for a treat.

Recently, on another Disney DVD, they had a documentary about the camera that Disney Studios created to achieve... more

Life, Death, and Rebirth in the Forest
Walt Disney's Bambi is the picture of innocence. This family classic was recently digitally restored to, no doubt, better than its original beauty. The colors remain somewhat muted, though. These are not the vibrant colors of a yellow brick road. more

What a Rip-off!
I actually ended up giving away my copy. Its still a classic and the picture looks good with the color restore but I feel when Bambi was little is the best part of the flick, after that it tends to get a little boring.

Too violent for toddlers!
I bought this DVD for my two and half year old son and was horrified to see how violent it is. Bambi's mother is murdered by hunters, dogs maul deers, animals are burned in fires, deers fight and birds are shot. I know all the arguments about tapping... more

will the real Bambi please stand up?
I love this movie. It still makes me cry. But I keep hoping someday someone will make a version of the *real* Bambi. The real book animal by Felix Salton. This book is not a "children's" book, folks. It's very Nietche (sp?) and delves into isgodmanisgodismanisgodmanisgodmanisgod?... more

A disney classic!

This is the story of a young fawn deer named "Bambi" who has two friends, they are a skunk named "Flower" and a rabbit named "Thumper", his mother later gets killed and grows up to discover the wonders of life in the forest.

A unique,... more

Wow - restoration is an understatement
I cannot get over how brilliant the colors are in this edition, makes you almost think Turner "colored" over it but it's been restored like a fine mural. This was cutting-edge animated art 60 (wow) years ago. One cell at a painstaking cell and it is... more

They don't even TRY to make 'em like this anymore...
The reviewer who was disappointed that this film was cut was quite wrong...you NEVER saw the mother shot. That's what is so powerful about this movie...they knew what to leave OUT. Very subtle, very much unlike most films today where they feel it necessary... more

It's short but it sure is charming
I was born in 1983 so I missed the "classic" Disney era, so I grew up on the Disney formula of late which is to have about 5 songs in the span of an hour and it does get irritating where a character would do something than just break into song. In the... more
