Bambi (Disney Special Platinum Edition) (1942)
Still Prince Of The Forest
I can't tell Disney how happy I am that they have decided to restore each classic film and sell it on DVD it's opening up a whole new generation to watch and enjoy personally, I can't be anymore thrilled.
Bambi in this DVD is still just as precious and as timeless but, has been dutifully and loving restored by the animators at Disney and it amazes me how with their pain-staken effort the animation stays the same yet manages to out-shine the orginal version.
The DVD features are really wonderful the kids will enjoy some of the games on the second and I love looking through the orginal sketches as well as listening to the story-board meetings and hearing what Disney had to say.Few people know how close Bambi was to Disney's heart he began work for it when Snow White was still in production and it took him many years to complete.
The story has stayed the same and as much as I love it now as an adult I can't say I was too fond of it when I was a kid. Bambi's mother being killed was a little too hard for me to deal with. Now, as an adult I am happy to own this in my DVD collection and be able to share it with the next generation. The characters manage to seem so precious and sweet(My favorites are Thumper and Flower)... the story is still as timeless as it was when the movie was made and still just as sweet. This is the movie done in a time when Disney got animation right.
The great thing about these two-disc DVDs is it shows that through time no matter what your age that these classic will be here for generations and the breed the next group of Disney fans.Watch this movie with your kids and let them now enjoy the magic of Disney done right.
