Bambi (Disney Special Platinum Edition) (1942)

Disney destroyed the animation on this DvD version

The original Bambi has life and imagination in almost scene. The raindrop sequence especially remains the most vivid spectacle of animation. Has anyone actually compared this version to the original. It has the look and feel of a video game.Yes we have the slickness and bland reworking of the depth and color. I was appalled how lifeless the characters became. Bambi was a piece of art not because of the story but because of the actual drawings of the forest and the musical score. This movie has the ultrasheen modern vacant look of Lilo and Stitch or The Lion King. It could be any modern cartoon, perfected by computer without a hint of human participation. The real Bambi rates 5 stars. This version I would like to return to the store but instead I will just throw it away. Its awful to destroy a classic film for commerce.
