Why did They Ruin it ??? Why is this new Battlestar so annoying and vulgar?
Its not innocent anymore! I like to watch the old ones with my kids but these are too adult oriented for young kids.

A reluctant fan of a well done re-working of the original When they first released the mini-series, I was one of the fans of the original series who avoided this version out of principle. I was a boy when the first series came out and never missed an episode, so when they changed the gender of main characters,... more
Science Fiction at its best Been 40 years since the human/cylon war. The haman and machines have uneasy truce. It also the time of decommission of the great Battlestar Galactica. For William Adama (Edward James Olmos) is a time to see his son Lee (Jamie Bamber.) 43 in line to the... more
Fan of original series, this is different but equally great! It's as great as the original series. Recommend you buy the 2003 miniseries as it sets the whole stage for the new series on Sci-Fi.
Just don't go in with expectations of "who's the new Starbuck" figuring it will be just like the original... more
interesting There are some interesting elements to this miniseries, but it's not quite as good as some suggest. I certainly can't give it 5 stars because it's obviously very slow and ponderous in places. The NBC version that cut out an hour really improved the pacing.

better than the original several times, i tried to watch the original. it was incredibly corny and hokey and riddled with bad acting.
the new, and improved, BG is worth watching. the writing, acting, special effects, set designs and overall production quality are very... more
I miss the mythological references This is not a full review. I totally agree with the other positive reviews posted here. This is science fiction at its best. George Lucas and Rick Berman (and gang) could have done the same and reinvented their sagas to keep them alive.
I... more
The mini-series is better than the DVD I'll only say one or two brief things about the actual BSG mini-series, since a lot of ground has already been covered in earlier reviews. I completely agree with the filmmakers when they say that this incarnation is more "drama" than "opera," and I... more
How Science Fiction Should Be This mini-series was something else! Forget the campy 1970s one-season wonder, this drama -- and it is as much that as sci-fi -- totally reinvents the series and firmly places it into 21st century world events. As you watch the story unfold it's hard... more
A Great Beginning I guess I should start off this review by saying that I've never seen any part of the original Battlestar Galactica, so I cannot compare this to the original. Having said that, I think that this miniseries was amazing; probably the best sci-fi I've seen... more
I don't think I can go back to the original series "Professional" is the word that kept popping up in my head when I was watching this, as the original series (which hasn't really aged that well) was thrown together rather hastily to capitalize on the success of STAR WARS. Instead of Greco-Egyptian-themed... more
Fan of the original BSG pleasantly surprised!! The original Battlestar Galactica series premiered on ABC when I was about 11 years old. I watched the series religiously until its cancellation, and even watched the short-lived Galactica 1980, although I was extremely disappointed that Richard Hatch,... more
Good start reimaging; I'd wait for season 1 discs to buy. The BSG miniseries is a fascinating reengineering of a classic if campy series and as such deserves a place on most scifi fan shelves. While the added DVD features are nice, I'm knocking a half star off each for writing/editing and for putting this out... more
Worth every 'Centon' spent watching Yes, there are some departures (many) from the original series, but when this series stands on it's own 2 feet, it is very enjoyable. Some nice hard Sci-fi touchs in the show - for instance - when a viper or ship zooms by in space, you don't hear the... more
I have been won over! I gotta admit, I was one of those die-hard BG purists. When I heard they were "re-imagining" one of the most beloved sci-fi classics I was pissed. Especially when I heard Starbuck and Boomer were being made into women. There was no way I would ever... more
About Time Somebody Did This O.K....let's get one thing straight. The Original Battlestar Galactica series was horrid....it was pure family-oriented cheese at it's worst. In the new series the robes and capes are banished to the fifth circle of hell, where they deserve to be. ... more
Exceeded my expectations. And I was a fan of the Original! In my mind's eye, shortly after May 1977, a group of TV executives were positively apopleptic over the lack of sci-fi programming for the upcoming season.
The parasites, I mean, TV execs must have screamed "Lucas created a (profanity) sensation... more
More Modern Sci-Fi Garbage. If the sleezy, crude, cigar huffing, drunken, vulgar, slovenly, characters featured in the show are at all representative of the overall escaping colonists, one can only hope the robot Cylons destroy the entire rabble before they can reach Earth. Few... more
Battlestar Galactica Purists BEWARE Im gona keep it short and sweet!
Negatives:
1. Starbuck is now a woman
2. Boomer is also a woman
3. New Cyclons now look human
4. Apollo is a Jerk
Positives:
1. Action is very good
