Charmed - The Complete First Season

Only buy if you're a collector...

Charmed was one of my favorite TV shows for at least 5 years, and I was dying for the DVDs to come out. After 7 years of waiting, we finally get them...and all they have on them is the actual episodes of the show from the first season. Don't get me wrong, the show is fantastic, especially the season one finale ("Deja Vu all over again"), but after waiting for so long, they didn't include extras of any kind. No outtakes, no bloopers, no pilot episode, no TV appearances, no information on the actresses, nothing.

It seems to me that, since Charmed reruns are still playing on TNT (and probably will for some time), the average fan can just record them to TiVo or onto a VCR tape and save the money of the DVD set...after all, you're not missing much by not buying the DVDs. Only die-hard collectors need bother with this set. Despite the great quality of the discs and the convenience of choosing which episode you want to watch with the click of a button, it's really a waste of money. I would hope that, on the DVD sets of future seasons, those who put these discs out would reconsider adding some extras; that's really what makes the DVDs worthwhile.
