Charmed - The Complete First Season
Charmed DVD
When I recieved this DVD for a late Christmas gift, I was very excited. I started watching at the beginning of the third season on reruns on TNT, and I always skipped the Thursday episodes. I was hoping that if I watched the season one episodes, I would understand the show much better.
I was not disappointed. The shows were excellent, good quality and acting. Since I only watched a bit of Prue, I was very happy to see her, since I am more used to Paige. If your main focus of this DVD is to simply watch the shows, nothing more, this is an excellent purchase. Though they could have used a 'play all' button, if you can oversee this hassle, it's very good and worth it.
Unfortunatly, if you want to see some extras, interviews, even subtitles, you will be very disappointed. It lacks all three of these, making it not very worthwhile. The beginning commercials are annoying, but all you need to do was press the 'Next' button. With no scene selections or play all was very disappointing, and I admit they could have really done better, seeing as how Charmed fans waited so long for this.
The cover looked cheap, and the cases were ones you could easily buy in a store. Even I, at eleven years old, could probably even whip up something that even RESEMBLED a nice package. The packaging they offered was stupid and cheap. But, they are reasonable small and are very easy to carry around, so that's a plus. And, the CDs are held in place, so you don't have that problem where they fall out when you open the case.
If you are worried about the sound and picture, I think you will be happy once you see this. The sound and picture is great, no fuzziness or weird voices. Satisfaction is what you will recieve, with the sound and picture area.
The episodes are great, especially if you liked Season One, with Shannen Doherty and all. Unfortunatly, the episodes are exactly like television. No commercials is the only plus with the episodes. No going to your favorite part straight away, because of scene selection, or being able to cuddle up like a sushi roll in a blanket without having to stick your arm out to switch episodes. But, if you are patient and don't mind sticking your arm out, you will enjoy this.
The DVD depends on what you are expecting. If you want to see the shows, nothing more, this is perfect for you. If you want to see interviews, commentary, extras, subtitles, all those stuff, you will be extremely disappointed, I am sorry to say.
~Nicola, 11 year old Charmed Fan
