Closer (2004)

Jude Law And A Semester Abroad

This movie was actually very good. I wasn't particularly fond of the ending, but it's based on a play, so I can't deduct points for sticking to the story. The actors all did a fine job with their characters and the story is interesting. The only flaw I see with the movie (and the play) is that the leading ladies in the film fall for a loser (Clive Owen) who they know picks up women via chat rooms. As much as his character Larry insulted Anna (Julia Roberts), she never once used the fact that he's a perv who has cybersex with "people" on the net against him. I know in real life, most beautiful women are going to be turned off instantly after learning something like that about a guy; and then to let someone like that treat you like dirt on top of it... I have a hard time believing someone of Larry's looks and charm would be scouting the internet for "chicks" in the first place. All in all, the movie is definitely worth seeing at least once, especially you Natalie Portman fans out there who have been waiting to see her wearing next to nothing.
