Full House - The Complete First Season (1987)
Bearable, unlike the rest of the seasons
In response to a previous user below: Happiness isn't productive when it isn't genuine. Most, if not all of Full House's episodes aren't filled with real happiness or love. Although, maybe I'm looking too much into this; it IS only a sitcom after all. I suppose this syrupy-sweet schlock isn't for me (anymore)... but then again, I did regularly watch this show during its stint on TGIF before it moved to Tuesday nights and swapped timeslots with Family Matters in the early 90's. I was only 12 at the time, and my Fridays were pretty much free, so go figure. At least the show didn't rot my memory.
I'd never waste my money on this DVD, but it would be interesting to see the unaired pilot. Full House definitely isn't one of those shows worthy of this kind of DVD release, but catching a few of the early episodes on Nick@Nite isn't the worst way to thirty minutes. This first season is bearable (f*ck, Danny even says the word "hell" in the pilot), but the overly-PC quality of the show will make you despise its last few seasons.
If you want some edgier classic sitcoms, I suggest the first three seasons of Married With Children and 3rd Rock From the Sun, but none of that Seinfeld sh*t.
I'm giving the first season of Full House 2.5 stars out of 5. At least THIS season was bearable (from what I remember nearly 18 years ago). Avoid all the subsequent seasons like the plague.
