No Profanity #2
My first review of this movie was just pulled by Amazon
Apparently they were not in agreement with what I wrote.
The synopsis of what I wrote was that the overwhelming majority of reviewers in this country panned this movie.
This is not a matter of opinion it is a matter of Editorial Fact.
Anyone who was about to go see this movie and picked up a newspaper for guidance will remember reading this or that negative or condescending opinion of the movie.
Mirroring that, the Amazon.com Review of National Treasure refers to its "rampant silliness" and says that it is entertaining but on its own "ludicrous terms."
Amazon goes on in their Review to say that the movie has a "contrived plot" "lacks ambition" and is a "load of Hokum."
I bring this up as an example of what the critics still do not understand!
America loved this movie.
Entertainment News programs often started out by saying..."Americans continued to give National Treasure a Two Thumbs Up and defy movie critics this past weekend...."
Critics have by and large lost the ability to understand why
America loved this fun, well-written, and absolutely intriguing movie.
Worse yet, critics seem incapable even now of admitting that we loved it.
Listen...it does mean a lot that those of us BUYING the TICKETS and PURCHASING the DVDs from Amazon...that WE love great adventure films such as this one.
We love that it has No Profanity in it....and that it can be seen by kids.
Wake up Hollywood!
We appreciate that Fact!
We are raising children out here and are getting very worn down with the F... word.
This movie serves up a great mix of intrigue, old-school romance and fast paced adventure.
If some want to call that Hokum and others want to yearn for a good utterance of the F... word or some in your face sexual situations then so be it.
But if you are a parent who wonders why they don't make good clean adventure movies anymore then HOLD ON!!!
If you are debating whether you should buy this DVD...then here is my answer:
If you want a fast paced...Clean...Decent...Entertaining...Profanity Free Movie...that you could show a 9 year old or a 30 year old and they would both love it....then this is the movie to get the popcorn cooking on as you prepare for some great fun!
That said...there is a fascinating article in Atlantis Rising magazine this month...Issue #50 March/April now on Magazine Racks at all the major outlets.
The Cover story is "National Secrets" and it is a fascinating article that points out some major flaws in the dismissal of the Historical possibilities held by this movie and shows that sometimes Facts are stranger than Fiction.
I have not liked Nicholas Cage in the movies that he has done after Raising Arizona.
The prognosticators who fortold that this movie was destined to bomb went down the tubes and are facing a well deserved risk of losing their credibility.
The critics may not know or understand or find themselves capable of comprehending the fact that I and millions of other Americans are going to be taking a second look at Nicholas Cage for having the class to star in a movie that is destined to become a cult classic.
I predict (attention thee scornful prognosticators of legend...) I predict that this movie upon DVD Release will soar on the ranking charts and continue to be a thorn in the side of critics who refuse to come to grips with the FACT that America gave Two Thumbs Up to this movie and Two Thumbs Down to their arrogant dissing of this.....attainable...national...Treasure!
