Wine is simply a metaphor about life
I liked this film for it's use of wine aa a metaphor for life's uncertainties, vulnerabilities, and unpredicableness.
Miles is depressed, and like his favourite wine, pinot, is seeking perfection, whether it be getting his book published, savourying the perfect wine, he seeks perfection in what he is doing, and anything less is a failure. Isn't that how alot of us live too?
Jack on the other hand lives life on the edge, he has no problems laying on a cloak of deception to get laid, and has no remorse for what he does. He lives and grabs life by the balls and takes what and when he wants it, often at expense of other people.
In the middle of these 2 extreme personalities, is Maya, she really is the centre and core between 2 fundamentally different people. She's articulate, she has no preconceptions of what she is and or what she is seeking. Like the wine she loves, everyday is different, and she's OK with that.
There's a lot to think about in this movie, but most likely appreciated by an older audience, ie: the 40 something group. This movie is not about providing answers, because in life often there are no answers. But rather it's about one's journey, and how they approach that journey can make all the difference in the world.
Go see the movie to see what I mean.
