The Lone Gunmen - The Complete Series (2001)

Another short lived gem that was axed by Fox

This short lived X-Files spin off had all the potential to be a true gem, but Fox gave the Lone Gunmen the axe before it had time to become something really special, just like other ill-fated shows like Joss Whedon's Firefly and X-Files creator Chris Carter's Harsh Realm. Bruce Harwood, Dean Haglund, and Tom Braidwood play the trio who in these episodes find themselves wrapped up in whacky espionage and conspiracies as they encounter mysterious female agent Yves Adele Harlow (Zuleikha Robinson) and a dimwitted chap named Jimmy Bond (Stephen Snedden). The Lone Gunmen were always the best source of comic relief to be found on the X-Files, and despite some slow stretches here and there, their own series proves to be great fun. The cast has great fun, but unfortunately you'll be wanting more long after these episodes (13 from the series and an X-Files episode which brings in some closure) are over. That aside, X-Files fans who enjoyed the Lone Gunmen should pick this affordable DVD set up, and if you missed out on it when it originally aired, you should give the Lone Gunmen a try.
