The Motorcycle Diaries (Widescreen Edition) (2004)

Fuser

Very good film. I liked it because it did not involve the radical politics that Che' is now known for. The young Che' from the movie resembles very little of the man who would become immortalized on stupid t-shirts of young kids all around the world. And I know a lot of people have problems with him, the whole hero/murderer debate is always in swing when talking about him. I am not into that debate, I just would like to know more about who he was. He is an interesting person for sure. The film does a great job of showing Che' grow as a person. As he travels throughout the country he sees many injustices which inspire him to think differently about the world around him. The seed is planted for his work helping others, and the line between the privileged and underprivileged in drawn in Che's mind. Like I said the movie is not about politics it is more about a young man growing into himself. And it is a pretty film with scenes taking place all throughout S. America. I recommend. But keep in mind it is a Spanish film and uses subtitles, so make sure you know how to read before you tackle this one.
