Studio: Warner Studios
Starring: Barret Oliver,Noah Hathaway
Release Date: February 3, 2004
Running Time: 94

What is it, a dragon or dog?
The story line and characters are average for the genre of the movie. But what really ruined it was the "dragon". It has to be the worst rendition ever concieved of a dragon, it was a dog stretched out.

this movie really needs a widescreen remastered version
I love this movie, ever since when I was a kid. The part where Atreyu being called up and he finally accept his errand, and there the awd aspiring bg music raised and that feeling is just incredible. Some years later after I first watched the movie, when... more

a great movie!!
i am sorry to say that i don't own this dvd, but i rented it, and i found that it was super!! parents beware, this video is not really intended for young children, it is morbid, and it points out fearsome moralities. but if you are a fantasy lover like... more

Magical, but misses the mark
This movie offers some uniquely magical moments, but it suffers from pretty sloppy editing and directing. Some of the scene changes are abrupt, and it is rather dark and moody for a children's film. Also, parents beware that the book is really meant for... more

The Neverending Story
"The Neverending Story" is about a young boy who finds a magical book and reads it while playing hooky from school. The book is about a young brave warrior who must take on a quest to find the secret to curing the queen, and also to find a way to stop... more

Never Ending Sales
I can see this movie selling for quite some time, As it has become a cult classic. NeS Part II and Part III are nothing in the shadow of this beastly Fantasy DVD. If you enjoyed such movies:

Legend
Willow
The Lord of the Rings... more

Great movie with a deep message...
I just have to say that this is my second favorite movie of all time (only beaten by the Star Wars saga).

This movie is just fantastic... imaginative and with very deep meaning and messages. Everytime I see it, I find more things about it...... more

BETTER THAN LORD OF THE RINGS IN MY OPINION
I LIKE THIS STORY BETTER THAN LORD OF THE RINGS IN MY OPINION NUFF SAID.

Why can't Hollywood make movies like this anymore?
The special effects (1984 style), the storyline, how a little boy loves reading, the magical beings (even the monsters were magical), the scenery, everything about "The Never Ending Story" swept you off your feet and kept you spellbound. You had to watch... more

This is a great movie
This is a great movie and me and my family (even our dad) like this movie. You can watch it ove and over again. And the scenes are very cool! Buy it!! it is a great value.

A true classic never ending story...
If only there were movies like this one being made with this much imagination and story-scape for our spoon-fed undiciplined kids. This is an ominous and wonderfully enriched fantasy experience and is not to be compared to the presently mass produced... more

Great Movie
I don't exactly know why, but this is one of the few movies that has stuck in my head after 20 years since I was 5 years old. And I know it's not a bad movie, so therefore it is a really good movie that sparks the imagination. I believe there was a... more

"He is very close, listening to every word we say."
In 1994, Wolfgang Petersen directed the film adaptation of the German novel "Die Unendliche Geschichte", which was written by Michael Ende (1929-1995). The film/novel is better known in the U.S. with its English title of "The Neverending Story". It... more

A little dusty
Notwithstanding the greatness of the special effects, the whole content and message of the film have not aged terribly well. In today's world, children need a message a little deeper than: "Wish and it will come true". The ultimate irony of the film... more

Great for kids
Want your favorite nephew quiet for two hours, within sight? While I'm hardly an advocate of letting the TV babysite a child, here's a film you can watch together. Talk after the movie about the dangers of apathy.

The neverending story
Sir Adam got it almost right! Good review, by the way.

This is an awesome story about the importance of the story. Yes, the moral lesson of "The Neverending Story" is the importance of the story itself (and by extension the importance of... more

Best fantasy of the 80s
I grew up on this movie, but I hadn't seen it in years until I bought this DVD. I view it with and adult's perception now, so it's not as good for me as it was when I was a kid. However, because I can see that kids would love it, I think it still holds... more

Speaking as an adult
Having only seen this movie for the first time two years ago, I beg to differ with those who claim that it's allure is lost to those not having been exposed to it at an early age. What makes this movie significantly superior to many other such children's... more

Great movie, though the book's much better.
This movie is a great film from the 80's. I enjoyed the fantasy-like, imaginative plot of the movie and the characters. Though it might make you laugh for all the wrong reasons, (poor acting, ancient special effects, etc.) it is a sweet movie that has... more
