Great movie with a deep message... I just have to say that this is my second favorite movie of all time (only beaten by the Star Wars saga). This movie is just fantastic... imaginative and with very deep meaning and messages. Everytime I see it, I find more things about it... this is a much more complex movie than any of the child movies produced these days. And it has proved to be timeless. I saw it when I was about 4 or 5 years old, and the kids of today love it as much as I did in the early 80's. Great effects, great production design, music, costumes, sets, story, characters... wow ! I wonder what could have happened if Wolfgang Petersen back then decided to make the sequel a couple of years later, with the same actors, same crew, etc... It'd have been great ! And just to finish... I know you'll agree with me: I WANT A MORE DECENT VERSION OF THE MOVIE... I mean: a nice package, the movie in Widescreen format(shame on you letterbox!!), 5.1 surround sound, mastered image and sound tracks, documentaries, deleted scenes, conceptual drawings and artwork, production stills, TV spots, posters... everything that most of the "decent" DVD releases have in the present. Come on... I've seen much more mediocre and less classic movies in "Special collector's deluxe edition Director's Cut enhanced ultimate criterion collections" Am I wishing too much ? Perhaps, but remember: "Wunsch ohne Begrenzungen".
