I guess I'm the exception here... Apparently most of the negative reviews of PASSION that you'll see here are not actual reactions to the movie itself; they are merely hysterical screeds against Christianity. These particular not-so-enthusiastic thoughts on the movie, however, come from a Christian. I was one of maybe about 3 Christians in America who deliberately chose not to see this movie. Based on what I've heard about it, and (especially) having been subjected to a 5- or 10-minute clip from it at church this Easter, I have no doubt I made the right call. Besides being (unsurprisingly) gruesome, the clip I saw positively dripped with melodrama and manipulation, manipulation, manipulation. Had I seen the whole movie, I would have been inspired only to be annoyed with Mr. Gibson's heavy-handedness. If other Christians are inspired (in the intended way) by this movie, more power to them.
