Not the best season, but still excellent
Is the novelty of "The Shield" wearing off? Not quite yet, but some of the interpersonal tension in the Barn that stood out in seasons 1 and 2 isn't quite as prevalent in S3, and the season suffers because of it. There is some, but it doesn't seem as dangerous or tense.
Granted, Tavon nearly dies.
Granted, Dutchboy might be on to the Strike Team's connection with the money train.
Granted, Captain Aceveda's mouth goes where no Captain's mouth has gone before....
As much as I enjoyed this season, it didn't have the same "recoil" factor as the first two. But hey, the parties involved did a HECK of a better job than I could have done, so there.
Am I looking forward to Glenn Close being one of the new cast additions in Season 4? A resounding NO.
I think it is unlikely she'll be anything on screen except "Glenn Close as the new Captain". I'd be surprised if she develops a character unique and special enough for the viewer to NOT see her as Glenn Close with her tense bossy face on.
The DVD itself -- the new digipack packaging is okay, I guess, but I always prefer the fold-out kind. Those just seem more special to me (except for the one for "The Alien Quadrilogy" - that darn thing unfolds to about 18 feet long and is a bear to deal with).
