DEAR MR. HBO DVD PRODUCT MANAGER

Dear Mr. HBO DVD Product Manager,

I know that, after years of declining advertising revenues, 2004 has been a good year and everybody ended up exceeding budget goals. So I presume it is only too natural for you guys to "save" a sure bet like The Sopranos 5th season DVD set for an eventual rainy 2005 day.

Problem with this trick is if you push it too far the dough may sour. I have already downloaded the season opener and the next episode from internet. It is a horribly slow and crack-prone process but eventually I manage to watch what I want... without paying for your salaries for it! Where would you be if everybody else did the same thing? I am now teaming up with my brother-in-law -- he downloads even episodes, I download odd ones and we swap.

Can you picture your forecasted revenue for the product being severely sucked away? How happy will the bosses be with this surprise?

So now that we crossed the imaginary (ok, imaginary is the raw material of your industry) line between 2004 and 2005 will you be so kind and release the bad damned 5th season and collect my money?

Or else...
